Still Life and Floral
As a fine artist, I am constantly drawn to the beauty and symbolism of flowers, which is why I find myself captivated by the art of painting them.
Ultimately, I paint flowers because they ignite a sense of joy, wonder, and serenity within me. They serve as a reminder of the inherent beauty that exists in the world and the importance of appreciating the simple pleasures in life. Through my art, I hope to share the beauty and inspire others to pause, reflect, and find solace in the timeless elegance of nature’s most delicate creations.
Landscapes
I love to paint landscapes to capture the beauty and essence of the natural world. Using color and brush strokes, I seek to create a mood, atmosphere, and serenity of different landscapes, from majestic mountains to tranquil meadows. I am captivated by the peacefulness of nature, and it provides an escape from the chaos of everyday life. My goal is that my landscapes evoke emotions and memories in the viewer, creating a connection to the natural world around us.
Bears
People have asked "Why do you paint bears?" Well when I was growing up my family would rent cabins in Northern Minnesota to fish for a vacation. And each year black bears would come into camp and I loved watching them . In fact in the evenings at dusk we would go to the local dump and watch the bears come out of the woods to rummage through the dump for food. That was our evening entertainment, kind of like going to the drive up movies.
So I have always just loved watching bears. In fact when I visit a zoo I spend most of my time watching the bears. Bears just have such great and very diverse personalities and I hope I capture some of those personalities in my bear paintings.
Abstract
My abstract collection is one of my favorite collections as each painting really comes from within. In spiritual terms I relate my abstract paintings to being like the mystic. I pull away the shapes and colors from reality to create a good composition that now shows a new reality. Seeing the world with a different lens. These paintings I would say are the ones closest to my heart. They come from a knowing. They just are.
